Women With Migraines More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression

Patients with chronic headache, in particular migraine, are more likely to suffer from depression, feel weary, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical research involved 1600 man who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in three countries. Of the women surveyed, 677 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 439 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patients were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical trial found patients with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with occasional headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among women tested with severely disabling migraine, the study found the likelihood of major Manic Depression increased 32-fold if the patient also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms should agitate or be a manifestation of major Depression in women with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Depression may heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Manic Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Careless of what’s causing the link between migraine and Psychotic Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can arouse poorer result for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The clinical trial was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American people are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 12.000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to making better people care through enlightenment and medical investigation. A neurologist is a osteopath specialized on diagnosing, treating and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and repeated sclerosis.
